Astrotrekking from San Basilio to Pranu Sanguini, SRT
The route from San Basilio to the Sardinia Radio Telescope (SRT) is a walking or hiking path starting from the San Basilio town hall. It crosses the countryside, includes a meeting point at the spring and reaches the Pranu Sanguini area.
The experience may include a typical snack offered by a local shepherd (when previously arranged) and is organized as part of events such as Astrotrekking by the Pro Loco of San Basilio (local tourism association), ending with a visit to the facility.
The Sardinia Radio Telescope periodically opens its doors to the public and schools, offering a unique opportunity to learn about science and astronomy.
The visit is free and includes an indoor introduction at the Visitors’ Center, followed—weather permitting—by a walk outside to admire the telescope up close.
Entering the telescope itself or using it for observations is not allowed under any circumstances.
The visit lasts about an hour and a half and is led by researchers, technicians and communicators from the Cagliari Astronomical Observatory, who are ready to explain the project and answer visitors’ questions.
For safety and operational reasons, access inside the telescope and direct observations are not permitted.

Wear closed, comfortable shoes.
The Visitor Center currently has no food or drink services (no café or vending machines), so visitors must bring their own food and beverages if needed.
