STAGE 1
Senorbì – Ballao (centro Dosa)
Route:
Senorbì – Arixi – San Basilio – Pranu Muttedu – Goni – Funtana Coberta – Ballao
Distance: 36 km
Elevation gain: +800 m
Description:
A medium-difficulty stage, with dirt roads and panoramic stretches across the inland territories of the Gerrei.
The route features significant archaeological and natural landmarks, including the Pranu Muttedu area and the Funtana Coberta spring.
STAGE 2
Ballao – San Vito
Ballao – San Vito
Route:
Ballao – along the Flumendosa – Villaputzu – Sa Praja – Prumari Beach – San Vito (Luigi Lai mural, Marteddu bakery and pastry shop)
Distance: 53 km
Elevation gain: +600 m
Description:
An itinerary that connects inland and sea, following the Flumendosa River and reaching the coast of Villaputzu before continuing toward San Vito.
Technical note:
Until the reopening of the iron bridge on the outskirts of Villaputzu, a guide is essential to cross the construction area; otherwise, a long detour on paved roads is necessary.
STAGE 3
Villasalto – Senorbì
Bus transfer:
San Vito → Villasalto
Cycling route:
Villasalto – Santa Barbara (village and mine) – Su Suèrgiu – Sassai Castle – Silius – Bobois Pastry Shop – Is Nais – Is Alinus – Sant’Andrea Frius – almond groves – Church of Sant’Andrea – Senorbì
Distance: 57 km
Elevation gain: +1500 m
Description:
A demanding stage rich in cultural and natural points of interest. Starting in Villasalto is essential to maintain sustainable timing and allow for visits.
Operational notes:
Sassai Castle is currently accessible only in theory: the gates installed for grazing make entry difficult.
Visiting the Is Nais mining area is recommended only with a guide, as the site is difficult to interpret independently.
The tour is more suitable for MTBs than gravel bikes, as confirmed by those who have already tested it. The presence of an expert guide is recommended for technically or logistically complex sections. Transfers from San Vito to Villasalto are essential to ensure the itinerary’s feasibility.
